Tradition and quality
Most of the work concerning our production is carried out throughout the year manually, as passed down through generations. Each stage of the process leading from the earth to the packaging of the product follows a natural path, to which are added technical controls to a careful packaging and marketing of the product.
The harvest takes place between October and November, only in the early hours of the morning when the flower is still closed, to prevent direct sunlight that can affect the organoleptic characteristics of the stigmas.
Drying takes place at a temperature not exceeding 40 ° -45 ° C.
Storage and display of the product takes place in premises where humidity and brightness are low and controlled. After the third flowering, our bulbs are extracted and planted in a new land.
Digging up and planting them in a new land prevents the diseases development, soil depletion and decreased yeld. The bulbs also go back every year multiplied, so that you get too close to the soil surface and which might be damaged by frost during the coldest winters the operations of the new plant are essential.
The amount of bulbs required for a surface area of 100 square meters is about 80-100 kg.
